Self-Help Books. Ever Read Them?
(1/1)
sunny:
Have you ever read, and learned things, from any "self-help" book? I have and don't mind at all saying it. One time, I was told by a friend to get
Dr. David Viscott's book called, Risking. Dr. Viscott was a phyciatrist in LA who wrote some excellent books. When I first started reading the book Risking, it hit "to close to home" in my feelings about life and I wanted to throw it away. But, I kept on reading it and boy did I learn a lot of things about myself and how to take "risks" in life. Dr. Laura Schlissinger has some very good books also. I figured, "what the heck, if I can improve me by reading a good "self-help" book.....why not". Some people think Dr. Laura is to "harsh".....not me. She tells people the truth, not necessarily what they want to hear. I am a BIG Dr. Laura fan! Some problems in life just can not helped by yourself, family or friends. Marriage and Family Counselors can also be big helps with todays problems.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
I've written other similar lists of best self help books before and have not placed this book at the top. Upon further review, I will put Napoleon Hill's book at #1 here simply because it is the most influential self help book of all time. I'm fairly certain that the authors of all the other books on this list have read Think and Grow Rich at some point. It has influenced many of the great thinkers in modern times.

The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel
This is one of the first self growth books written about the law of attraction. Some sources claim that this book gave birth to “Think and Grow Rich” best-seller of all times. As I love to go to the source for everything I am interested in, I read this book with great interest.
I must say that you may find some of his sentences hard to understand because it was written in old English. Sentences are long and full of information, so you might need to re-read the same sentence several times to really grasp the meaning.
This book explains in detail how the law of attraction works and if you take time to read it, you will benefit greatly.
?The Master Key System? should be read weekly because it gives weekly lessons with exercises. You should do exercises for a week, and when you completely master given exercises, you should move on to another chapter. This way you will completely master universal laws
