Stopping The Urge To Cheat

Sometimes it happens in every relationship. You wallow on the thought of getting naughty with someone other than your spouse. Or perhaps your take it a little further by making yourself open to flirting, or perhaps entertaining sexually charged text messages or emails.

The fact is, you are not day dreaming and what you are doing can result to dire consequences. When you want to cheat, and caught up in the strong force of attraction with someone, you might not be able to see the real reason why you are making yourself vulnerable to outside enticement.

Usually, cheating is just a symptom of an underlying serious problem in the relationship.

And when you recognize your vulnerability to infidelity, you might able to combat it and do certain alternatives to have fulfillment in your marriage.

You want to cheat because he cheated in you. Your spouse cheated on you in the past, although you are willing to take him back, part of you still want to get revenge. You think, stepping out on him would even the score.

How to stop the urge to cheat: Revenge will take your relationship nowhere. It will not give you the satisfaction your need, or expect. It’s either you focus on what you want to have in the relationship again, or just get out of it.

You want to cheat cheat because of long distance. Perhaps couples who are in a long distance relationship would agree with me that it’s never easy and it takes a lot of conviction to make the long distance marriage works. More of often than not, you can’t help but feel extremely lonely and horny and you begin to look for someone to fill the gap.

How to stop the urge to cheat: Remember the saying, “ absence can make the heart grow fonder.” Well it can and it should. Good thing there’s phone sex, sexting, video calling, and sex toys.

You have the urge to cheat because you are in the new place in your life. It’s either you have taken a new job, new hobby, lost weight, or joined a club and your spouse is just not feeling your excitement. The new phase in your life can shut your partner out, and you feel that he doesn’t understand you.

How to stop the urge to cheat: Update each other and make an effort to make your spouse a part of your team. Get your spouse’s advice or opinion about your new job, or hobby. You’d be surprised how willing and supportive your partner would be.

You have the urge to cheat because you are bored in your relationship. Maybe you’ve been together three or more than ten years, by this time the relationship has worn out its sparks. Sex has become dull and sometimes it feels like you have nothing to say to each other.

How to stop the urge the urge: This is the perfect time to get creative and try something new. Try changing your routine when it comes to sex, here’s a thought, whatever you did before, try to do the opposite.
